Dhruv Rathee was born on 8 October 1994, in Rohtak, Haryana, India. He was raised in a Hindu Jat a small, middle-class family in Haryana. His parents were quite young, about 24-25 years old, when Rathee was born.
Dhruv’s mother was a teacher and his father was an engineer. Together, they earned about 4,000 Indian rupees per month. As a child, he got to travel a lot from Srinagar to Jaisalmer’s desert. This is because his maternal grandfather worked in BSF.
Some years later, his parents moved to Delhi for better job opportunities. His father was offered a better job at a better salary. Around 2002-2003, his father’s per month salary was 17,000 INR.

Before launching his YouTube career, Dhruv went to Germany to complete his engineering degree. He decided to study in Germany because other English-speaking countries have high tuition fees. On the other hand, in Germany and other European countries, studying is almost free.
There would still be living expenses, and for that, his parents took out an education loan. The applications were sent to several colleges and universities but the acceptance came from two places. The first was the “Eindhoven University of Technology” in the Netherlands and the second was Germany’s “Karlsruhe Institute Of Technology“.
In August 2012, at 17 years old, Dhruv Rathee moved from India to Germany. He chose Mechanical Engineering and completed his Bachelor’s course in 2015. After this, he did a Master’s in Renewable Engineering from the same University.
