Early Life
Jose Marie Borja Viceral aka “Totoy” was born on March 31, 1976, in Tondo, Manila, Philippines, and grew up in the neighborhood of Sta Cruz, Manila. His dad Reynaldo Viceral was a barangay captain in Tondo and his mom Rosario was a housewife.
Ganda grew up alongside two older brothers Emma Viceral and Babut as well as two older sisters. His father was murdered in front of their house in 1991 when Ganda was just 15 years old. Additionally, he was left alone by his mother who went to work abroad as a caregiver.
Education
Vice completed his education from the 3rd grade to college, thanks to a Japanese lady who gave him a scholarship that paid for his education. After that, Vice attended Far Eastern University in Manila, Philippines to earn a degree in political science. Around this time, he decided to pursue a career in showbiz and dropped out of the University.
Career Beginnings
Vice Ganda started his career as a singer before becoming a comedian for “Punchline and The Library” in his hometown in Manila. There, he was given a nickname of “Vice Ganda” by a comedy bar owner.

In 2007, Vice Ganda made his theatrical film debut by appearing as a Chinese restaurant employee in the comedy “Four In One (Apat Dapat, Dapat Apat: Friends 4 Lyf and Death“. The following year, he had roles in two films “Condo” and “Ikaw pa rin: Bongga ka Boy”.
In 2009 and 2010 Ganda appeared in film “Noy”, Hating kapatid,” and “Petrang kabayo” respectively. He had a big break in 2009 when Vice landed a job at the ABS-CBN program called “It’s Showtime” which earned him a lot of fame.
In 2010, Vice starred in the blockbuster film “Petrang kabayo” which grossed well over ₱115.4 million at the box office, becoming one of the highest-grossing films of the year 2010.

In 2020, Ganda raised a whopping ₱1 million for people affected by Typhoon Vamco and then donated ₱500 thousand to victims of Typhoon Odette.
