Five Things to Consider While Purchasing an EV

There has been an increasing shift towards EV (Electric Vehicle) adoption from ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) Vehicles. With people looking for a more sustainable and cost-effective mode of transportation, EVs have come out as a suitable option. However, as it is still not a common option, users need to consider some key factors while considering purchasing an EV.

If you are thinking about making the switch to an EV, here are five key factors to consider:

  1. Range and Battery Life

Batteries are the core part of EVs. The power and efficiency of the battery determine the range the EV model will provide. It is vital to consider the range of the vehicle before purchasing an EV. This will widely depend on our needs and usage patterns. If we think about the city’s daily commute, a lower-range EV will suffice while if we plan to take frequent longer tours, we will need an EV with a longer range. This will help us travel a distance without the need for EV Charging.

  1. Charging Infrastructure

Consider the availability and accessibility of charging stations in your area and along your regular travel routes. You can check for available electric vehicle charging stations in your area through the Statiq App. Also, if you stay in a residential space with shared parking, you need to check the feasibility of installing an AC Charger which is most convenient and cost-effective for daily charging needs.

  1. Cost and Incentives

Depending on where you live, you can take the benefits of tax redemptions and subsidies for buying an EV. Though the price of an EV is typically higher than ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) Vehicles providing the same range, these government incentives help reduce the cost. Additionally, consider the long-term savings on fuel and maintenance, as EVs have lower operating costs. It is also worth comparing the total cost of ownership over the vehicle’s lifespan.

  1. Vehicle Features and Performance

You can decide on an EV model as per your preference for features. EVs come with a wide variety of features, whether it is acceleration, handling, or advanced technology features like autonomous driving capabilities and infotainment systems. Also, you should consider the space, size, and type of the EV depending on your needs. If it is a compact car, sedan, SUV, or even a truck.

  1. After-Sales Support

Consider the accessibility of the service center of the Electric Vehicle Brand. EVs are new on the market and a local mechanic may not be able to repair them. With their complex components, you will have to rely on authorized service centers. So, good after-sales support after you own an electric car is particularly important.

Conclusion

Purchasing an EV is a crucial decision that requires careful consideration of several factors. By evaluating the range and battery life, charging infrastructure, cost and incentives, vehicle features and performance, and after-sales services you can make an informed choice that best suits your lifestyle and needs.
